Sunday June 6th
8:30 am - 9:15 am

Yin is the balance to Yang. It does not happen separately from, but as a needed part of Yang. The problem is, our urban worlds no longer function within these laws of nature and we are completely out of balance. Stress comes via sound, light, motion and a bombardment of stimulation that has our nervous systems on high alert. Discomfort has become mistaken for pain and fear becomes the actual experience. Within all this distraction there is a lot of discomfort. It is experienced physically, mentally and/or energetically. Push the limits and it becomes painful. Anxiety, restlessness, distraction and an inability to be with what life offers us, become normal. Learn how to be with the discomfort of the physical form and you learn how to gently lean into the discomfort of life and take control of the places you inhabit. In this Presentation/Meditation you will have a chance to correlate the physical experience with the state of consciousness that has you disconnected from a more expansive discerning state. Moving from the reactive, survivalist reptile brain and allowing the nervous system to converse with the limbic system and possibly move into a more discerning state. Yin Yoga is Life training. From Daoist practices which are the way of water, It teaches you to flow with life, to become comfortable with the uncomfortable. Learn how to not pull back, or step away from it, but instead be with it until you realize being with You was never scary, it is exactly why you are here.

Saturday 5th June

There's a saying that meditative practice should be "good in the beginning, good in the middle, and good in the end." Yet how often do we find ourselves thinking, "if I could just get my mind to settle down, I might actually enjoy this"? We bring ourselves back to the breath over and over with stoic patience, but it doesn't seem to be getting any easier, and it gets harder to return to the cushion to slog through it all again the next day. It turns out that finding pleasure in your meditation, right now, is a key that can unlock that stability of mind, and bring a deeply rewarding practice. We'll talk about: - Specific techniques for finding and skillfully "leaning into" pleasure - Some of the innate tendencies of the mind, and how understanding them can help us meditate more effectively - The ripple effect from this orientation, across our meditative motivation, consistency, and development - How to evaluate our practice without judging ourselves We'll also put some of this into effect with a short (15 minute) guided meditation at the end.

Learning to meditate is learning to be intimate with your mind and body. Learning to meditate is like cultivating any other relations ship. It takes patience, devotion and love.

Explore moving meditation and boost your immune system with Qigong - the ancient art of culitivating qi, your life force energy. Take charge of your health and let go of stress. Learn powerful relaxation techniques you can use virtually anytime and anywhere. As you go about your days, what kinds of things does your mind come up with? Isn’t it kind of fascinating how our egos like to comment and/or criticize all day long? Wouldn’t it be great if we could change the narrative inside our heads - let go of worry, feel more peace? For years I tried to meditate sitting still. Couldn’t do it! Didn’t want to sit still. Then I discovered the concept of “moving meditation” or “mindful moment” - Tai Chi and Qigong. My life has not been the same ever since. Quite simply, learning Tai Chi and Qigong is the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I love sharing these easy yet powerful techniques. When we quiet our minds and tune into our breathing, we align with the infinite energy of the universe. Through radical attention to the present moment, we can enter the realm of Presence. The no-thing that is everything.

Know that best results will come from making time to access both the theory and the practice. The Moving Meditation for Better Sleep Workshop will be mostly experiential in nature, with many moving meditation practices to relax the body and mind. - Breathing techniques to help you dial down stress and get to sleep faster. - A process to reduce mental chatter that might be keeping you awake at night. - Practice routines for Better Sleep: Standing, sitting, and lying down routines that can be done separately or together for added synergy.

Face it — We have the potential of approaching the world more authentically! When we know how to meditate, we become capable of navigating the nature of our minds and emotions. An opportunity arises to find ourselves, away from habits and conditioning. The benefits of meditation go beyond the moments of meditation. During our time together at this conference, I will lead you through a Calm Abiding meditation practice. This will help us return, gently, to who we truly are. I will also provide somatic exercises to help begin and close our experience. No previous experience with meditation is required.

It's the very first thing we find when born into this world, and the very last thing we do as we leave. It is the one thing we cannot live without beyond about a minute - our breath. If you stop to think about it, our breath is pretty amazing! Because breathing comes so naturally, most of us take our breath for granted. I believe the quality of our breath determines the quality of our life. When we bring more consciousness to our breath, we become more conscious in all aspects of our life. Breathwork helps us to reconnect with ourselves on every level and to heal physical, emotional, and spiritual dis-ease. Learn about how we store trauma and stress in our bodies, and how the breath can help us to resolve and integrate those experiences. You will also experience a guided experiential breathwork practice that you can utilize as a personal practice. Because we all breathe, we have the power to work with our breath consciously anytime, anywhere, for free.

Meditation, Yoga Nidra
Saturday 15th May
2:00 pm - 2:45 pm

Yoga Nidra is a deep Yogic practice wherein we consciously learn to relax and observe ourselves. The practice of Yoga Nidra is part of the 5th Limb of Yoga, Pratyahara – the awareness of and withdrawal of the 5 senses. Often referred to as “Yogic Sleep”, Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of bringing deep relaxation to all levels of our being. It is the state between sleep and wakefulness where contact with all three states of consciousness (conscious, unconscious and subconscious) happens simultaneously. By consciously drawing our senses inward, we move progressively through all 5 Koshas or Sheaths of our being by gradually turning our attention from outward stimuli to our internal landscape. It is here where we give our self instructions for our desired change or transformation by planting a sacred vow/resolve/intention known as a Sankalpa. Sankalpa's are best kept brief, and in present tense, such as "I am at Peace" or "I am Calm" or "I am Whole". In this presentation, Michèle will gently guide you through a Yoga Nidra for cultivating Inner Peace. The entire practice takes place in Corpse Pose also known as Shavasana.

Sunday 6th June

Meditation, for me, always brought so much hardness and discomfort to the surface . Meditation showed me I was angry and hurtful. Meditation made my shoulder hurt. Now, meditation shows me the pain in others, and this too, is almost unbearably hard. Why do it? Why become aware of absolutely everything and, if it really offers calm and peace, as promised, where does one even begin? All the practices tell us to begin when we are, begin as we are. I had to start with a lot of turmoil, and began again with it every time I sat, for many years. From accidentally meditating for the first time, to now guiding teachers to share these practices too - I've witnessed inner demons, beginner's mindsets and shifting interpretations of meditation, in students and myself as student! We will touch upon all of the above, and most of all, the simple power of softening so that we stay open to learning about this world. Softness is key in allowing ourselves to begin meditation wherever we are and to willingly begin over and over.
